Pacific School Games - updates from WA Team coach Mike Tinley- Day 5 and 6

Thursday saw 4 of our divers competing and the highlight for the WA team was Sam Tulk's performance in the 3m winning bronze against 2 very strong divers.

First up was Sally Cream and Jessica Ranieri in the 1m. Sally performed well and finished 4th after the top 3 elite girls. Jessica had a difficult day coming 14th.

Caroline Pedley dived in the 14 yrs girls 1m coming 15th. Caroline's shoulder has been an issue this week and with limited training has done well.

Friday was the last day of regular competitions and 5 divers were competing.

1st up was Sally Cream in the 15 girls 3m with another solid performance but unfortunately coming 4th again to the Elite stream divers. Her back 2 1/2 was strong and shows that it is not far from being a high scoring dive.

Sophie Debenham in the 3m 16 yrs girls improved her standing in the field coming 6th.

Our 3 youngest divers were up next in the 10-12 yrs Synchro event. Sophie Vassileff was teamed up with a New Zealander and with limited training enjoyed the experience or diving with someone from another country. Jack Reynolds and Sam Tulk came 6th and look to be a great team for the future.

Saturday will be the fun day for the Games with the Team Synchro Event. This event is the highlight for many of the divers and me personally. It differentiates the School Sport Program from any other diving competition in the country.

The children have been praised by management for there behaviors and you should be all proud of their attitudes and politeness.

Regards,

Mike Tinley
