Pacific School Games - updates from WA Team coach Mike Tinley- Day 1 and 2

Saturday was a bit of a rush from the airport to the pool, but it was a good day and our 1st training session was successful. The accreditation process at the airport gave the whole day a special feeling.

Sunday was our 1st day of competition where Olivia Keet dived in the 13-14 years Platform. Olivia came 16th in a strong field. It was a short day in the pool and the divers went to the local shopping centre for some retail therapy. The opening ceremony was next where it was less than spectacular for the divers who marched on after the basketballers. One Sophie Vassileff believed was 7ft tall. I thought he was at least 6ft 8in. But compare to Sophie OMG..... it was a great experience being there with the rest of the WA PSG Team of approx 400.

Monday saw 5 of our divers dive. The highlight of the day was the girls 15-16 Synchro where Sally and Sophie dived consistently to just miss out on a medal by 1.83pts. Other results are as follows:

Sam Tulk in the 10-12 platform (6th) did a great job.

Olivia Keet in the 13 years 1m (17th) improved on each dive showing determination.

Caroline Pedley in the 14 years 3m (10th) showed courage with a sore shoulder.

Sally Cream and Sophie Debenham in the Synchro (4th)

Regards,

Mike Tinley
