Keeney Has A Spring In Her Step

Maddison Keeney has continued her strong form, taking out the Women’s 1m Springboard Final at the 2017 Australian Open Championships in Sydney, giving her a rare shot at a sweep of the springboard medals.
In a dominant and consistent display, Keeney blew away the competition finishing with a score of 320.60, 25 points ahead of Esther Qin (NSW). Zoe Langtry, in her Open Championship debut also made the final finishing 12th with 195.60. Earlier in the day Jorja McCall finished 17th in the prelims with a score of 148.15.
Keeney took her tally of gold medals at the championships to three, pairing with Dominic Bedggood (QLD) to win the Mixed 3m Synchro event with a score of 330.18. She will now focus towards her final and pet event, the Women’s 3m Springboard which will be held tomorrow and will also feature fellow West Aussie Tamara Irvine.
The last event of the day saw Nikita Hains and Teju Williamson battle it out in the Women’s Platform Final against Australian Diving Queen Melissa Wu. Both girls dived strongly to finish 6th (274.50) and 7th (272.40) respectively, behind Wu who again proved her dominance on the 10m finishing 55 points ahead of her closest rival on 380.50.
