Gold start for WA at 2017 Australian Open Championships

The 2017 Australian Open Championships kicked off today at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre, with the WA athletes in the thick of the action.
Maddison Keeney and Rio Bronze Medal winning partner Anabelle Smith continued their great run of form taking out the Womens 3m Synchro with a score of 318.51. The girls will make for a strong pairing at the 2017 FINA World Championships in Hungary in late July.
Nikita Hains and Teju Williamson have also progressed through to thursdays final of the Womens Platform event following todays Preliminary and Semi-Final results.Teju was in fine form, scoring 308.50 to move to final behind Melissa Wu. Nikita scored 240.45 in the Semis and will be looking to show more of her promosing form in the final.
Tomorrow will see Tamara Irvine kick off her open campaign, pairing with Nikita Hains in the Womens Platform Synchro, and then alongside Maddison Keeney in the Womens 3m Springboard, which looks to be the event to watch this Australian Open Championships.
