COVID-19 Wellbeing Information

Published Tue 07 Apr 2020

Important information from Diving Australia Manager Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement/Child Safe Sport, Teri Crilly.

During this uncertain time you may experience a range of different emotions and feelings. While we are all trying to adapt to the information each day in an evolving situation, we will all process the current situation in different ways and at different speeds. It is important to acknowledge that this is a period of transition and your feelings are warranted.

This is a time where we need to ensure we are all practicing self-care. Your approach to self-care might be slightly different than that of a friend, family member or coach. Some ideas for self-care include:

  • Journal- write your thoughts and feelings down
  • Aim for good quality sleep
  • Maintain a healthy diet
  • Exercise daily
  • Have a routine and structure around your day
  • Stay connected with family, friends, team mates
  • Limit exposure to social media and media sources. If you would like to stay up to date with the relevant and current COVID-19 information head to reputable sources such as https://www.australia.gov.au/
  • Seek support if needed (please see below)
  • Do things that you enjoy each day
  • Keep learning and growing
  • Volunteer. Are there things in your local community within the Government guidelines and restrictions you could be doing to help out? (e.g. Could you pick up some bread for a vulnerable neighbour and leave it on their doorstep? Can you leave some hand sanitiser and a note out for your suburbs postie to say thanks?)
