COVID-19 Update - 22.3.20 - Training Suspended
Published Sun 22 Mar 2020
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced further restrictions and closures of facilities to control the spread of COVID-19, which includes indoor sporting facilities, from midday tomorrow (Monday 23rd March 2020).
This will see all TRAINING SUSPENDED in the dive pool and dryland at HBF Stadium from this time until further notice. Those squads with training in the morning will be able to continue as planned and follow the previously stated rules on social distancing and hygiene.
As we have stated, we have been working with the coaches to provide training programs in various formats to keep training engaging and ongoing, with the aim of giving the divers the best opportunity to maintain focus, fitness and eventually returning to normal training when this is possible. Coaches will be in contact over the coming days to provide further details and plans for this.
We will be having further discussions with VenuesWest and other providers tomorrow to determine what financial impacts the closure will have for the association. We will also have ongoing administrative and operating costs during this period and will determine what this means for missed training sessions from this term.
The association will continue to operate remotely and provide updates and information to members as often as possible. We will continue planning for our return to normal training, and also the ongoing future and continued growth of Diving WA. Stay safe and we will get through this together.
