Community Partnership with Edmund Rice Camps WA

Published Thu 15 Sep 2016

Diving WA is pleased to announce a new three year Community Partnership with Edmund Rice Camps WA.

Edmund Rice Camps for Kids WA Inc is a non-profit community based organisation that serves the needs of children aged 7–16 and their families and supports the personal development of young adult volunteers who serve as friends and mentors to the children in their care. They provide camps and other recreational and developmental activities for children who would not otherwise have such opportunities, supporting children who are ‘at risk’ or experiencing some form of disadvantage.

Edmund Rice Camps WA CEO Kevin Knapp said that, "Edmund Rice Camps is very proud to partner with  Diving WA, an inclusive sport that shares a commitment to creating safe, fun and rewarding programs within community. Together we will make a positive difference in the lives of kids, young adult mentors and coaches by raising awareness about community needs, sharing ideas and empowering young people to build social capacity.”

The partnership will see the two organisations work together to run a combined one day Fun Fest program, whilst also exploring further opportunities to develop, support, enhance and strengthen our work in supporting children. The first Fun Fest program will be run in early 2017.

Diving WA CEO Steven Rose said that, "Diving WA is also proud to be assisting in providing opportunities for children and volunteers to have fun and try diving, who may not have had the opportunity to previously experience this. Edmund Rice Camps WA are a great organisation with incredibly passionate staff and volunteers and this is fantastic opportunity for Diving WA and its members to give back to the community.”
