Barbi Bolt and Blue Blistering in Bradshaw
Published Wed 22 Sep 2021
The Bradshaw Shield and Tilbrook Trophy saw another thrilling edition in 2021, with the competition held on the 18th/19th September at HBF Stadium.
The Tilbrook Trophy, which was donated to Diving WA by the West Perth Swimming Club to commemorate Raelene Tilbrook’s selection into the Australian Diving Team for the 1975 World Cup, is for first-year competitive divers. Lea Barbi shone through on the day, bolting ahead of the competition to claim the trophy and add her name to this events history.
The Bradshaw Shield, which was was donated and set up by City Swimming Club in recognition of Robyn Bradshaw's selection to the Australian Diving Team in 1964, is a fun and exciting teams based competition. This years event saw a blistering performance from the Blue Team of Ellyarn Granland, Jade Rousseau, Isabella Galvao and Makalayah Larkin-Boys, who finished with 24 points, ahead of the Yellow Team (19), Green Team (15) and Red Team (10).
The weekend also saw divers compete and participate in Qualifying, Skills Champs and Novice Events, with many competing for the first time.
of the Qualifying events, 56% of those who entered gained qualifying scores for their respective 2022 National Championships. A fantastic result to get an early score on the board, and a great starting point for others to build on.
Well done to all divers who participated and thank you as always to our wonderful volunteers, judges and coaches.
Our thoughts go out to our state counterparts who are not able to compete at the moment. We hope everyone is able to get back in the water soon.
The WA divers now have some breathing room to hone their skills ahead of the National Elite Dryland Competition during the School Holidays, and the Warrilow-Sproule Cup at the end of October.
