Diving Australia in consultation with State Diving Associations has today made the decision to postpone the 2021 Australian Elite Junior Championships.

The Championships originally scheduled to begin on July 5, will now be held from September 27 through October 2, 2021 (tbc).

Melbourne will remain the host city for the Championships.

Diving Australia CEO David Bell said the move comes off the back of continued uncertainty, government mandated lockdowns, and state border closures.

“The wellbeing and safety of Australian divers has been, and continues to be, our number one priority,” Bell said.

“Given the significant logistical challenges that our junior divers and their families would face in order to attend a July Elite Junior Championships, it is clear that a September Championships will best serve our diving community.

“We understand that these new dates may present challenges, especially for students studying towards their final exams. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.

“I would like to thank our State Diving Associations, our diving families, and of course our young divers for their continued flexibility, and look forward to gathering again in person in Melbourne.”

More information regarding schedule, the 2021 FINA World Junior Diving Championships, and the National Talent Pathway portion of the event will be released shortly.
