Dear School Swimming Team and Diving Team Coordinator and parents of individual diving competitors,

Principals have now been directed by DoE to employ extra precautionary measures to minimise the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

This includes the cancellation of all interschool sport from today.

SSWA was directed on Friday by DoE to cancel swimming carnivals, this also includes the scheduled diving competitions this week.

We appreciate that students, staff and officials will be disappointed, as we are, and many will be inconvenienced.

However, the long term health and welfare of everyone in the community must be the highest priority.

School Sport WA

School Sport WA, in conjunction with Diving WA, are again running the School Sport WA Diving Championships at HBF Stadium on Wednesday 18th (Secondary) and Thursday 19th (Primary) March.

Diving will challenge all participants physically as well as mentally, whilst providing them with new skills and learnings.

Diving is one of the most popular Olympic sports with athletic spins, twists and turns. It is a fun and exciting sport, combining jumping, flexibility, strength and speed. It is a sport for everyone, no matter your skill level or ability, from Primary school age through to Masters.

The Competition will be run with two events:

- Primary

• Years 4 and Under
• Year 5;  and
• Year 6

- Secondary

• Junior (Years 7 and 8)
• Intermediate (Years 9 and 10); and
• Senior (Years 11 and 12)

A diving clinic will also be run before the start of each competition, so no matter your diving experience this competition will cater for everyone.

So gather your friends and promote to your schools to get involved!
