Bruce Prance Dryland Diving Centre

Welcome to the next generation of Diving WA!

The Bruce Prance Dryland Diving Centre allows divers to use trampolines, springboards, harnesses, and foam pits to perform acrobatic jumps without water.

The dryland facility helps our local divers practice ten times as many repetitions than traditional water-based training.

We anticipate that the facility will be a great support for local and national athletes in their aspirations for Commonwealth and Olympic success.

The new facility honors the late Bruce Prance OAM, who sadly passed away in 2019 and was involved in the sport of diving for over 70 years as a State-level diver before he became a world-class coach. He was also instrumental in forming what is now Diving Western Australia in 1957 and became a pioneer of dryland training in Australia.

What's Inside?

Innovative Dryland Training Facility:

The new dryland training centre is built to allow WA diving athletes to hone their skills in a simulated diving environment. The FINA international standard training facility enables our athletes and coaches to finely tune techniques of all parts of the dive, apart from the final water entry. The centre is among just a handful of dryland facilities in Australia, making it a major drawcard for diving training camps and events hosted in Perth.

The facility includes:

  • six springboards,
  • three trampolines,
  • six harnesses,
  • a sprung floor,
  • foam pit,
  • 1m and 2m platform tower,
  • three camera points w/ replay systems,
  • and a weights area.

A Space for Divers and Diving WA:

The Dryland centre acts as the new base of operation for Diving WA going forward. To ensure that our divers, coaches, and staff are happy, the centre is equipped with a wide range of facilities to suit their needs. This includes a fully-functioning kitchen and communal area where our students and coaches can interact and relax. We've also added fully-furnished office spaces and board rooms for our coaches and board members to continue building Diving WA into a sought-after institution.

Right Next Door to the Diving Tower/Pool:

But that's not even the best part. The new centre is connected to the existing diving facility at HBF Stadium. This means divers only need to walk through a door to go from the dryland to the tower. This ensures that our athletes have a full space to train and dive when they are ready.
